Mindful Mornings

As an Artrepreneur, honestly, it's hard to balance life. I'm not talking about getting jobs done, seeing family and friends, taking time off to myself - but rather to feel it all, to get most out of it all. To be mindful and graceful and just basically grateful for my artistic life and my life in general.

I have this tendency to urge myself through all my tasks with the goal of freedom in the end. I love getting things done, and done greatly.

But if you're like me, you also know how annoying it is to wake up in the morning and already be stressed about the lasts tasks on the to do list - or goal list, if you will. I've done this for too long, and a few days ago, I decided to disrupt my morning work. I challenged myself to not do anything business related before noon. All I was allowed to do was create. You'd think this isn't hard for an artist, and I can't speak for all of us, but to me, it really is. Art equals freedom for me, and therefore I usually start with business things so I can get to where the joy is. You see where I'm going with this? I'm putting the joyful stuff in the end, cus I believe I ought to do the heavy things first. Very old fashioned worker mentality alert!

"I've created a solid, joyful way of starting the day."

But by doing it the other way around, I've created a solid, joyful way of starting the day - and guess what, not only did I create beautiful new things, I also took that joy and peace from the morning with me into the afternoon, and joyfully trudged through my business tasks in half the time these things would normally take. It was a pure pleasure, and I definitely recommend trying it out if you recognise your own mentality in mine!

Lots of love,
