Laugardagr

2026

A durational performance art ritual rooted in Nordic myth and feminine power, exploring the intersection of historical cleaning traditions and energetic manifestation. Inspired by the ancient Norse laugardagr (washing day), the performance reclaims the physical act of washing as a sacred, transformative tool for purification and abundance.

The ritual begins with the rhythmic carving and activation of runes—Fehu for wealth, Gebo for the sacred exchange, and Wunjo for joy. Kneeling in a minimalist sanctuary, the artist undertakes a raw, visceral self-cleansing using natural vessels containing rosa mosqueta, honey, milk, and oats. Through repetitive movements and a spoken-word chant, the physical body becomes a vessel for inviting prosperity, sweetness, and liberation, blurring the lines between private ritual and public manifestation.
